Depressive disorders and anxiety disorders cause a heavy burden on society and family members. Even though there is a significant improvement in treating depressive disorders and anxiety disorders, unfortunately, treatment outcomes are still modest and evidence for effectiveness in older age groups is still modest. As risk- and protective factors change over the lifespan, more knowledge on the age-specificity of these factors is needed. In this study, we will examine how age plays a role in any risk/protective factors and depressive disorders and anxiety disorders, providing solid and valid evidence to develop age-sensitive care.
