The combination of exposures during our lifetime has a strong influence on the development of diseases. Occupational exposure is an important factor because people spend a lot of time at work, whereby exposure is often higher than at home. In the European project 'EPHOR' (https://www.ephor-project.eu/), TNO, Utrecht University and other European universities are investigating the role of occupational exposure in the development of a number of chronic diseases, including COPD, depression, and Parkinson's. Several European cohorts will be used in this project and a meta analyses will be performed. Lifelines will be used as the Dutch dataset.
