Physical activity (PA) and sedentary behavior (SB) are distinct but interrelated behaviors influenced by genetic and environmental factors. Understanding these influences is crucial for promoting active lifestyles, especially during adolescence, a critical period for mental health. This study will explore heritability and familial aggregation of PA and SB, the effects of polygenic risk scores (PRS) on PA and SB across development, and gene-environment interactions affecting mental disorders. By integrating genetic and statistical approaches, this research aims to enhance our understanding of PA, SB, and mental health, contributing to targeted public health interventions.
