Genomics of Uncontrolled Eating: a GWAS meta-analysis

Obesity primarily stems from consuming more energy than expended, with eating behaviors being crucial regulators of food intake. Various eating behavior questionnaires often measure a common factor: uncontrolled eating (UE). Research shows that this trait is consistently associated with obesity and BMI. Genetic factors influencing BMI and UE overlap, suggesting that UE may mediate the genetic effects on body weight. However, this relationship is not strictly one-directional, as higher BMI can also increase UE. This study aims to explore the genetic basis of UE, its links to other traits, and the causal relationship between UE and BMI.
