This project aims to examine the association between women’s reproductive health characteristics with risk of chronic conditions across several countries. Relevant data from the Lifelines study will be harmonized and incorporated into the existing InterLACE dataset which currently hold data on over 1.2 million women from 13 countries.
Using longitudinal data, we will investigate how reproductive characteristics (e.g., age at menarche, menstrual irregularity, pregnancy history and complications, fibroids, PCOS, and endometriosis, menopause timing, vasomotor symptoms, hysterectomy/oophorectomy, hormone use) relate to the development of chronic conditions. Results from this study can help to understand female-specific risk factors in the development of chronic conditions and thereby providing evidence for prevention strategies and the management of these conditions in women.
