In this study the aim is to use the microbiome data of healthy volunteers from the DAG3 cohort as control group to compare with researchers own Mitochondrial disease and type-1 diabetes microbiome data. The difference in gut microbiome composition could impose crucial information about the Mitochondrial disease manifestation. In a broader study (MIDLOC), the difference in gut microbiome in Mitochondrial disease patients will help to elaborate the positive effects of an low carbohydrate high fat diet intervention in MD patients.
